WHAT ARE CITY SERVICES?
You may be surprised to learn that Good Cycles is more than just a bike store. Our City Services arm provides numerous bike-based services around Melbourne, including bike share system management, car share maintenance services and waste management logistics. For us, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what can be achieved on bikes.
We work with transportation and environmental services businesses to help them reach their goals in smarter, more convenient ways. With the use of cargo and electric bikes to move around Melbourne, we are infinitely more efficient and flexible than traditional maintenance utes and delivery trucks. Barriers such as narrow laneways, finding a park close to a point of delivery/collection or moving through gridlocked traffic are removed.
On top of providing these services to support our city and its community, we are also supporting employment opportunities for those in need and helping businesses reach their social procurement targets.
Good Cycles trainees have an ever-expanding range of opportunities to gain skills and solid work experience – including car detailing, bike share maintenance, delivery services, recycling logistics and communications, bike mechanics and customer service.
OUR CITY SERVICES TEAM PROVIDES BIKE-BASED SERVICES AROUND MELBOURNE, INCLUDING BIKE SHARE SYSTEM OPERATIONS, CAR SHARE MAINTENANCE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT LOGISTICS.
MELBOURNE BIKE SHARE OPERATIONS
Good Cycles operates the Melbourne Bike Share system in conjunction with RACV for Public Transport Victoria. We look after the entire system – from technical maintenance of the 50 stations around Melbourne, to bike repair, helmet supply and safety checks.
Our team ensures all bikes and stations are safe, useable and running smoothly for our Melbourne customers. You may see us around town moving bikes (or even whole stations!), reprogramming the station meters, cleaning graffiti, giving bikes tune-ups or rescuing bikes that have been stranded. Keeping the bike share system up-and-running ensures our community has access to an alternate, efficient transport option for their journey in and around Melbourne.
CAR SHARE SERVICES
We work with GoGet and RACV to clean and maintain their car share fleets in Melbourne. While the concept of cars may seem at odds with our bike-based solutions, we understand that fleet services play a necessary role in mobility. By working specifically with on-demand systems, we are actively supporting the premise that cars are only used in the city when they are needed.
On any given day, you will see Good Cycles’ team members out on their cargo bikes, stocked with portable vacuums and other cleaning tools, providing timely and reliable services to the 200 shared vehicles across our network, ensuring every customer has a clean and comfortable ride.
In partnership with Citywide, Good Cycles undertakes a range of services for the City of Melbourne. Using a fleet of electric cargo bikes in place of heavy vehicles, we are able to provide maintenance and logistics in an efficient way that reduces both congestion and emissions in Melbourne’s CBD.
Our services include responding to alerts and maintaining, inspecting and reporting on all solar bins, laneway compactors and laneway recycle hubs across the City of Melbourne, alongside running a number of trials for future waste management services.
